The Sandbox Tucson Website
Overview & Challenge
Both of my boys attended The Sandbox Tucson childhood learning center, which is a local family-owned (and highly rated) daycare canter. (Though they don’t like to call themselves a daycare.) While my eldest attended, the owner asked me to design a website for them. They had purchased a domain, but it sat dormant for years and they were losing business without a website presence.
I created this fun, colorful website for them with a custom-coded them utilizing the WordPress CMS to they can update it themselves. I also took all of the photographs you see on the site and built it around their existing logo.
Traffic and contact form submissions spiked once the site went live, and greatly increased their online presence. They are now ranked #3 in Google searches with no paid SEO.
Audience
Local Tucson parents looking for a highly-rated childcare learning center.
Approach
As with all website work I do, the project starts with a thorough site audit to ensure navigation and page hierarchy is clear and concise. Once that is complete, wireframes are supplied to the client showing the home page and a couple sample internal pages (depending on needs). The next step is static design comps created in InDesign/Illustrator/Photoshop and once that is approved, the final sight is built using a custom theme coded by me in the WordPress CMS. Training is also provided for the client so they can edit the site themselves.
PS – You’ll even see my son in a few of the photos on the site. 😉
