OSC Pre-Commencement Poster

Overview & Challenge

I was tasked with creating a poster to advertise the University of Arizona’s College of Optical Science’s Pre-Commencement. This was to be printed and hung in various areas across the Optical Science building and be both eye-catching and stay within the UofA’s new branding campaign.

One major challenge was incorporating the legacy “OSC” logo. When the College was first founded it was called the Optical Sciences Center and a “rainbow” logo was designed specifically for the college. The logo was very much liked by all the faculty and students but was not allowed on any material according to the UofA’s new branding rules. An agreement between UofA’s branding team and College allowed the legacy logo to be used as long as it took a less important visual role.

Audience

Primarily faculty, staff and students at the College of Optical Sciences.

Approach

The College of Optical Science was known for having an incredibly beautiful and modern building, which was used quite often in all of the marketing material. The shape and design of the building itself meshed wonderfully with the University’s new branding campaign, which had been launched a few months prior.
